June Bae is a director born in Seoul, South Korea and raised in Houston, Texas. He moved to Detroit, Michigan after graduating from the University of Michigan with a degree in Screen Arts and Culture, a fancy term for film studies.
His career began at a local news station creating local jingle commercials, something he’s not proud of to this day. Soon after, he spent years as an editor working on different projects for automotive clients like Chevrolet, Chrysler, Fiat, and Jaguar. It was at this time that June decided he was ready for the next step.
Searching for opportunities to direct, June hit the streets as a music video director. Although intimidated at first, he eventually ended up befriending a lot of these artists and making some of the most creatively-fulfilling work of his life. This was easily one of the best decisions he’s ever made.
With a newfound creative energy and vision, June jumped back into advertising, this time as a director. Since then, he’s directed projects for brands like Gillette, Moet & Chandon, and USA Hockey. He now resides in Los Angeles, California but strangely misses the harsh Michigan winters.
